Holiday home by the coast with sea views
Oakley House, Crag Path, Aldeburgh
"A beautiful house with great attention to little details. A restful stay and a fantastic spot."
We think this stunning house will delight you on many levels. To start with, it has an enviable position on Aldeburgh's seafront, enjoying uninterrupted sea views. Then there's the tasteful décor and generously proportioned layout of this beautiful house.
This grand house is set out on three floors. On the ground floor there’s a large kitchen/dining room, a living room with a wood burning stove, a bedroom that can be arranged as either a single or king bedroom, a large utility room and a cloakroom. The first floor has a second living room with fabulous sea views, and a Bechstein piano, a bedroom with a king size bed, and two bathrooms. The second floor has a bunk bed room and a single bedroom with an additional child’s ‘truckle bed’.
The Accommodation
Ground floor:
Living room 1: The front door leads into the ground floor living room with a corner sofa, a wood burning stove, TV with Freeview channels and DVD player.
Kitchen: We think you’ll enjoy meals in the large well-equipped kitchen, which has a farmhouse table with seating for eight, handmade cupboards, a gas-fired Aga cooker, Smeg two-ring gas hob, and a Smeg fridge freezer. This double-aspect room has sea views.
Hallway: a hallway from the living room leads to Bedroom 2, the Utility room and Cloakroom.
Bedroom 2: This room has a single bed that can be cleverly converted into a king size bed. There’s a hand basin, bedside table, chest of drawers, shelves and a hook behind the door to hang your clothes.
Utility room: A large room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and double sink.
Cloakroom: With a w.c.
First floor:
Stairs from the ground floor living room lead to the first floor landing.
Living room 2: With stunning sea and beach views. It is a wonderful place to sit on an evening with the glass balcony doors open and enjoy the holiday chatter of people wandering by on the path below. This double-aspect room is furnished with two large comfy sofas and has a pewter fireplace (not in use) on polished pine floor boards with a natural rug. You’ll also find a CD/stereo player and a fully restored Bechstein piano which is available for the use of careful pianists.
Bedroom 1: The Master bedroom has a king size bed and is light and airy with a natural carpet, chest of drawers and dressing table and partial sea views.
Bathroom 1: There’s a luxury slipper bath with a hand held shower attachment, a w.c. and a hand basin. And you can see the sea from the bath! This room has doors to both the Master Bedroom and hallway so can be used as either a family bathroom or as an en suite.
Bathroom 2: This large bathroom has a double-ended free-standing bath with a hand-held shower attachment, a separate shower cubicle, a w.c. and a hand basin.
Second floor: Slightly steep stairs lead to a small second floor landing with doors to two bedrooms.
Bedroom 3: This is a small children’s bedroom with a bunk bed, a built in wardrobe and a sloping ceiling.
Bedroom 4: This has a full size single bed and a small ‘truckle bed’ that pulls out from underneath it for young children. There’s a built in wardrobe and windows in the roof.
Outside: A roadside parking space is usually available directly in the front of the house on the road, although this cannot be guaranteed. It is usually possible to park along nearby side streets and in the Pay and Display car park beside the house in Oakley Square.
