family Holiday cottage close to Aldeburgh's high street and beach

Quietly tucked away just moments from the High Street, this fabulous house is ideal for a family or a group of friends.  This house is an easy walk to both the beach and the shop filled High Street of Aldeburgh but is shielded from the bustle, down the beautiful and quiet little lane called Church Walk.  This house is a Grade 2 listed Victorian extension to Thellusson Lodge, which once housed Aldeburgh's Grand Casino, purchased by the Marquess of Salisbury - it is understood that the current property once acted as a silver store safe at this time!

On the ground floor there’s a living room with a wood-burning stove and a kitchen/dining room.   The first floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom.  There’s a further bedroom and en-suite on the second floor.  Outside there’s a garden and off-road parking.

Ground Floor: On entering the property you will find yourself in a spacious entrance hall where you can have a seat, remove your outer wear, and prepare for a lovely holiday. From the entrance hall you are able to go up the stairs to the first floor, left into the living room or straight into the kitchen/dining room.

Living room: This light and airy room has two comfy sofas and a chair, a large wood chest coffee table with room to fit many cups of tea and coffee or glasses of wine. There are 2 large sash windows one of which overlooks the pretty garden outside, there is a flat screen TV with integrated FreeView, a DVD player, stereo system with iPod docking and a fireplace with a wood burning stove. The original floor boards give this room character.

Kitchen/diner:This stylish and well-designed kitchen has granite work surfaces, a dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven and gas hob, and an integrated tall fridge/freezer. There is plenty of counter space and cupboard space. There’s a table seating six that can be folded down to seat four. The Belfast sink is situated beneath a large sash window.

First floor: An angled staircase leads to the first floor landing, you can notice the thick walls where the property once was a safe for silver and needed the protection!

bedroom 1: This has a king size bed and is an elegant and spacious room with large sash windows, one overlooking the pretty garden outside. There is a large three door mahogany wardrobe, a Victorian chest of drawers, a Lloyd Loom chair and tasteful decor.

bedroom 2 :This bedroom has a double bed and a Victorian oak wardrobe; it also has a window allowing you to take in the view of the garden outside.

Bathroom: The modern, luxury family bathroom has a bath, a hand basin, a W.C. and a chrome heated towel rail.

Second floor: A second set of angled stairs lead from the first floor landing to a second floor landing.

Bedroom 3: This fabulous twin room is ideal for adults and children alike! Three sky lights give lovely views of Aldeburgh Church, the clouds sailing by, the birds soaring high and the twinkling stars at night. There are large alcove areas either side of the chimney breast with shelves and hanging space for clothes and ceiling is pitched with character oak beams.

Ensuite to Bedroom 3: The luxury en-suite bathroom has a free standing bath, a separate shower enclosure, a hand basin and a W.C. There is a chrome heated towel rail and plenty of warm daylight from the sky-light above the bath.

Outside: There is a large patio area with seating for six to enjoy a lovely summer’s night or a bright and early breakfast before heading to the beach! Most of the garden is laid to lawn and is planted with various shrubs and flowers.  There is off road parking for two cars.

This large self-catering house is located on Church Walk, just a short walk from Aldeburgh High Street and the beach.  The nearest part of the High Street is the north end, near the newsagents and Co-op supermarket.  The town’s very popular restaurants, cafes and independent shops, and of course the beach are just a short walk away.
