Self catering holiday cottage in Thorpeness

This well presented, light and airy self catering modern house is situated in the heart of the seaside village of Thorpeness, a short walk from the beach and close to the village’s attractions, which include The Dolphin Inn serving locally sourced foods, a restaurant, a café, village store and the magical “Meare” boating lake.

Inside the house is set out on three floors, the ground floor has a large open plan living room with a connected kitchen/dining room and a cloakroom with a w.c. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed, one with bunk beds, and a bathroom. The second floor has a further twin bedroom and a shower room. Outside there's a patio and lawned garden and off road parking for one car.

The front door leads into a hall way, with a cloakroom and stairs to the right and a door ahead leading to the open plan living room / kitchen / dining room.

Living room: This large room has two big sofas and a window seat with cushions. There's a gas fire to supplement the central heating, a TV and DVD player.

Kitchen/dining room: Around the corner from the living room is a kitchen/dining room with a table and benches. There’s a modern fitted kitchen with integrated Neff appliances including a gas hob and electric oven, combined washing machine and tumble dryer, a dishwasher, microwave, and a fall fridge freezer. Glazed patio doors lead out to a pretty paved area with an outdoor table and chairs and steps up to the lawned garden beyond it.

First floor:

Bedroom 1: This double aspect room has a king size bed, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and a rocking chair. There's a pretty window seat in the big bay window.

Bedroom 2: This bunk bed room is ideal for children and has a wooden bunk bed, a wood and canvas wardrobe and a chest of drawers.

Bathroom: There's a bath, w.c. and a hand basin in this white tiled room.

Second floor:

Bedroom 3: A twin bedroom with a chest of drawers, bedside tables, and a sloping ceiling. There's additional storage space in a wardrobe just outside the bedroom door.

Shower room: This good sized room has a shower, w.c. and a hand basin, with a sloping ceiling and two windows.

Outside: There is a pretty patio to the rear of the house and steps up to a lawned garden. The house has off-road parking to the front of the house for one car which is reached through the car park of the Dolphin Pub. Additional parking is available at the car park by the Village Store.

This self catering holiday cottage in Thorpeness is situated close to the beach and is behind the Dolphin Pub which serves good food and Adnams beers. Thorpeness is a mile and a half along the beach from Aldeburgh and is a charming holiday village largely designed by the Scottish playwright and barrister Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie a century ago, inspired by the writings of JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan.

The village has a large boating lake ‘Thorpeness Meare’ with several miles of shallow water can be explored in the summer time by rowing boat. A short walk from the cottage is the Thorpeness Country Club and here the tennis courts and games rooms are often available during half term holidays as well as the summer months.

Also close by is the Thorpeness' heathland golf course. The area is ideal for cycling and walking, both along the coast and in the countryside. It's a pleasant stroll to the famous 'House in the Clouds' and Thorpeness windmill. There are a number of shops and eateries including The Dolphin Inn, the Meare Tearoom and The Beech House restaurant (opening times vary according to the time of year).

All rental prices include bed linen and towels, gas and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

The property is equipped with gas central heating, TV, DVD player, Ipod radio player, gas hob and electric fan oven, fridge and freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and a combined washing machine and tumble dryer. A travel cot and a high chair are also available.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a bank transfer. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card payments.
