Suffolk Self-catering Holiday Accommodation with River Views near Orford and the Suffolk Coast

Creek Cottage has perhaps the most wonderful view of any cottage in Suffolk. Wide open skies and a sweeping view of Butley Creek, this tidal estuary is home to a teeming and everchanging bird population and is one of a handful of private reserves managed by the RSPB. Guests who enjoy beautiful and historic places will appreciate a holiday on one of Suffolk's finest Victorian model Farms, managed today to preserve the ancient landscape.

Arriving via a private road over a mile long, the cottage is accessed via a side door opening into a large fully equipped kitchen living room with a wood burner. From this room there is an additional living room “snug” and at the back of the property a bathroom and boot room with full laundry facilities. The bedrooms, also off the living room kitchen, are light and airy and the two front bedrooms have views of Butley Creek. The cottage itself was built in the 1920s for Estate workers and now offers a luxury experience for guests looking to get away from it all, but with Orford just 10 minutes away for renowned restaurants, its historic castle and Quay and traditional pubs.  Outside is a well established and maintained cottage garden, divided between lawn and flower garden, with a totally secluded “secret” seating area offering privacy and peace. The perfect spot to watch the sun go down with a refreshing drink to hand.

Ground Floor:  Guests enter through the side door into the living area.

Living/Kitchen/Dining:  This open plan living space has a generous fully equipped kitchen, a central dining space with a table seating five, and a lounging space comprising of sofas and chairs seating five around a pot belly coal stove and a flat screen TV with DVD player.  The kitchen has an electric double oven range, an integrated fridge with freezer compartment, an integrated dishwasher and a microwave.

The Snug:  At the front of property with a window over looking the lovely Suffolk farm land and Butley Creek is a sitting room with an open fire, two armchairs and beanbags for children.  This room is ideal for reading or relaxing and has plenty of games for the children to enjoy.

Bedroom 1:  A large bedroom with a king size bed, views of the pretty back garden, matching bedside tables and lamps, chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

Bedroom 2:  A twin bedroom to the front of the property with two standard size single beds, views over the rolling hills and Butley Creek, matching bedside tables and lamps, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

Bedroom 3: A single room with a standard size single bed, also to the front of the accommodation with views over the Suffolk countryside and Butley Creek, there is a bedside table and lamp, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

Bathroom:  In this room there is a bath with a shower over head, a hand basin and a W.C.

Utility Room:  This room is at the back of the holiday cottage with a door to the back garden.  There is a washer, dryer and a sink for all practical uses.

Outside:  The outside space is a particular feature for this property; take your pick of either the charming cottage gardens consisting of well maintained mature hedges of lilac and many pretty flower beds or the vast Suffolk countryside beyond, with the Butley Creek flowing through.  There is a outside table and chairs and plenty of parking.

This special Suffolk self catering holiday accommodation is one and a half miles from the Froize Pub and Restaurant – you can find their menus on their website - and two and a half miles from Orford which is situated on the River Ore and boasts an 'English Heritage' Norman castle and a working river quay that serves sailors, fishermen and sightseers. The town has a good choice of places to eat and drink including The Trinity at the Crown and Castle and Kings Head pub, the Butley Oysterage, The Kings Head, The Jolly Sailor, and a café by the quay with lovely views over the river. Across the river is the National Trust's Orford Ness, the site of mysterious research projects in the 1950's and 60's but now a nature reserve.

River trips can be booked from Orford Quay down the river to see the area's famous avocets at the RSPB's Havergate Island. If you are eating in, good food can be purchased in the town from award-winning butchers, Richardson's Smokery, Pinneys and also the Village Stores.

Sudbourne is known for Captain's Wood - which is a nature reserve owned by Suffolk Wildlife Trust, as well as for Crag Farm Pit - which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Suffolk.

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
