Clerk’s Cottage is a delightful period cottage in the heart of the historic market town of Eye in Suffolk. The owners have cleverly introduced touches of contemporary decor and furniture to complement the wood beams and country cottage feel which runs throughout. By adding warm, inviting colours and high quality interior features, they have created a fabulous cottage at the top end of the market - breathing a new lease of life into it whilst keeping all of its charm and character.
Inside you will find a living room, dining room and kitchen on the ground floor, two double bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor and a small courtyard garden outside.
Ground floor:
Living room: The smart, wood front door leads you straight into the welcoming living room, a bright and stylish room with a comfortable sofa and two arm chairs. The beamed walls and soft olive colour of the ornamental fireplace (not in use) give the room a warm, relaxed feeling with contemporary touches such as the white coffee table and a 19 inch flat screen television with inbuilt DVD player and Freeview channels.
Dining area: A passageway alongside the living room fireplace leads you through to the stylish dining area, which is close to the kitchen and seats four around the elegant white dining table.
Kitchen: The original cottage door leads you into the kitchen which is adorned with beautiful duck-egg wood cupboards and a dresser, a Belling stainless steel range cooker and a Belfast sink. There’s a slim-line dishwasher, a microwave and a Miele fridge/freezer for your modern day needs!
First floor:
Curved cottage steps from the dining room lead upstairs to a small landing.
Bedroom 1: The master bedroom at the front of the cottage has a four-poster king size bed decorated in soft beige and brown drapes for an elegant feel. The room is carpeted to ensure warmth in the evenings, there is a pretty double wardrobe and a window to the front of the cottage overlooking the main street.
Bedroom 2: Across the hallway is the second double bedroom, which is smaller but perfectly formed with an antique bed, decor in more soft colours and with modern cushions and lampshade to create that clever mixture of new and old. There is a small cupboard for hanging space and a window to the side of the cottage.
Bathroom: At the back of the cottage you’ll find the spacious and elegant bathroom, which provides a free-standing bath, a heated towel rail and a stunning shower with a large curved glass cubicle. There is a w.c., basin and the room is decorated with colour washed wood panels which give the whole room a feeling of grandeur.
Outside: There is a small courtyard garden with holly and ivy trailing over the white brick walls surrounding the space, raised flower beds and a small wooden table and chairs for enjoying a glass of wine in the fresh air! On-road parking is usually available within a one minute walk of the cottage.
