Holiday cottage with uninterrupted seaviews

The name is Canadian Indian for ‘A nice place beside deep water’ 

This spacious, comfortable and well equipped beach-front detached house is situated in one of the most sought after locations in Suffolk with uninterrupted views of the sea at Thorpeness, about a mile along the beach from the coastal town of Aldeburgh. The house is brick built and ideal for families and friends.

On the ground floor there'’s a spacious living room with a wood-burning stove and glazed doors leading out through a conservatory to the terrace and beach beyond. On the South side there is a large sunroom with a door leading onto a small West facing terrace ideal for sundowners. The large fitted kitchen/dining room overlooks the sea and has a separate utility room. There is also a ground floor twin bedroom and a bathroom. The first floor has two further bedrooms (a king and a twin), both with direct panoramic sea views, and a family bathroom. Outside there is table and chairs where you can relax and enjoy those amazing views, which reach as far as Aldeburgh and beyond.

Ground floor:  The front door leads into a porch and a large hallway beyond.

Living room: This large room has stunning sea views through the attached conservatory.  There’s a contemporary wood-burning stove, a flat screen TV with integrated Free View and DVD/CD player. Furniture includes two three-seat sofas, a two-seat sofa, 3 tub chairs and coffee tables.

Conservatory: With breathtaking views over the beach and sea, there’s a sofa and plenty of chairs to take out onto the terrace.

Kitchen/Dining room: This spacious room has a built-in hob and oven, a tall fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and breakfast bar. The dining area has a table and six chairs with sea views.

Utility room and w.c.: Which has a washing machine, a small tumble dryer and a separate w.c. with ample room for coats etc.

Bedroom 3: A ground floor bedroom with a twin beds, bedside tables, chest of drawers  wardrobe and wash basin.

Bathroom 1: Situated opposite bedroom 3. There is a bath with a shower over, a w.c., hand basin and a heated towel rail. 

First floor:  Straight stairs lead from the ground floor to a small first floor landing, two bedrooms and bathroom.

Bedroom 1: With stunning sea views and glass doors to a large sea-facing balcony, there’s a king size bed, bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

Bedroom 2: Again overlooking the sea this lovely room has twin beds, bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

Bathroom 2: There's a lovely free-standing bath with a handheld shower attachment, a w.c., hand basin, heated towel rail, painted floor and sea views.

Outside: Chicoutimi sits well off the road and has parking for at least three vehicles.  The property is located in the sand dunes with an East/South and West aspect terraces and surrounded by grass area where you can sit back and enjoy those wonderful sea views.   

Thorpeness is a mile along the beach from Aldeburgh and there is a coastal footpath between the two. Thorpeness is unique, designed and built as a holiday village by the Scottish playwright and barrister Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie a century ago, inspired by the writings of JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan.

The village has a large boating lake ‘Thorpeness Meare’ with several miles of shallow water can be explored in the summer time by rowing boat.  There is a challenging golf course and active country club and several places to eat including The Dolphin Inn, The Meare Tearoom and The Beach House. Nearby, as well as Aldeburgh, you have Snape and the renowned Maltings, Minsmere, Orford and Southwold. Far too much to do in one visit!

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

This detached property is equipped with gas central heating and a wood-burning stove in the living room. Appliances include a flat screen TV with integrated Free View, DVD/CD player, built-in hob and oven, dishwasher, tall fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and a microwave. A travel cot and high chair are available from the property owners on request at the time of booking.

Sorry no smoking, or unaccompanied teenagers permitted on this property. Please supervise children on the first floor balcony. A well-behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement downstairs only please.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
