Pet friendly Orford holiday Cottage

"Fantastic cottage, great location and peaceful surroundings"

This property enjoys a magical setting, on the outer reaches of Orford in the heart of the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Situated down a private track, this cottage has long-ranging views across the open countryside of Sudbourne Park from the spacious garden and towards Orford Castle from the lane infront of the property. Although this cottage has modest origins, as an Edwardian workers cottage, it now affords a special venue for those guests looking to enjoy the Suffolk countryside. Orford's market square is a short walk away, where you will find Trinity restaurant at The Crown and Castle - Ruth Watson's renowned eatery, the Kings Head - a charming pub with a glowing reputation, an artisan bakery/cafe and a lively village store and cafe.

Upon entering this single storey property you will find yourself in a small entrance porch where there is a door straight ahead to the cloakroom, or turning left into the living area which wraps around the open fire's chimney. Passing through the living area you will find the kitchen/diner at the rear of the property which has a door that opens into the large garden outside. The hallway from the living area leads you to the bathroom at the front of the property, the master bedroom at the rear of the property, and the twin room at the end of the hall facing the front of the property.

Ground floor: The property enters into a small entrance porch connected to the cloakroom and living room.

Living Room: This unique room is horse-shoe shaped around the cosy open fire's chimney. The seating at the front side of the house has it's back of the chimney but enjoys views out of the large front window and is perfect for settling in with your favourite book. The seating on the other side of the chimney and closest the kitchen/diner has the open fire as well as a flat screen TV, DVD player, and an iPod docking station. You will find a small sofa and arm chair in the front half of this room and a double sofa and an arm chair in the second half of this room.

Cloakroom: This has a hand basin and W.C.

Kitchen/Diner: The spacious kitchen has a free standing electric hob and oven, Bosch dishwasher, washing machine, upright large fridge/freezer, and microwave. There is a wooden table seating four and a back door that opens to the large garden outside.

Bathroom: This room has a bath with a fixed shower head above, a hand basin and a heated towel rail.

Bedroom 1: A spacious room with a king sized bed and a large window overlooking the generous back garden. A notable feature of the room is the particularly high ceiling giving a light and airy feel to the space. Within the room there is a large wardrobe with drawers, two bed side tables with lamps and a small dressing table?.

Bedroom 2: A twin room with two standard single beds and a chest of drawers. This room is situated at the front of the house and the large window allows plenty of daylight into the space.

Outside: There is a small garden to the front of the cottage with an area in front of the bathroom and twin bedroom that is a sheltered. The garden to the rear of the cottage is a generous size, mostly enclosed by hedging and a garden shed (not in use). There are table and chairs in both the front and rear garden to enjoy either the morning light with your cup of tea and bun or the afternoon sun for a sandwich and fun! Orford Market Square is just a short walk away over open fields.

The cottage is situated at the edge of the delightful town of Orford which is on the River Ore and boasts an 'English Heritage' Norman castle and a working river quay that serves sailors, fishermen and sightseers. The town has a fantastic choice of places to eat and drink including The Trinity at the Crown and Castle and Kings Head pub, the Butley Oysterage, The Kings Head, The Jolly Sailor and a café by the quay with lovely views over the river. Across the river is the National Trust's Orford Ness, the site of mysterious research projects in the 1950's and 60's but now a nature reserve.

River trips can be booked from Orford Quay down the river to see the area's famous avocets at the RSPB's Havergate Island. If you are eating in, good food can be purchased in the town from an award-winning butchers, Richardson's Smokery, Pinney's and also the Village Stores.  For delicious traditional breads and cakes, Pump Street Bakery is just off Market Hill.

All prices include bed linen and towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

This semi-detached cottage is located down an unmade road equipped with oil-fired central heating throughout plus an open fire in the living room, flat screen TV with FreeSat channels and DVD player in the living room. There is an electric hob and oven, Bosch dishwasher, large upright fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, and an iPod docking station. The flooring is wood floorboards in the bathroom and living room and has area rugs, carpets in the bedrooms, red tiles in the kitchen/dining area and lino in the hall and cloakroom. There is one step into the house.

A travel cot is available on request at the time of booking from the owner of the property.

Sorry, no smoking or unaccompanied teenagers. A well-behaved dog is welcome to stay. If you wish to bring a dog it must be mentioned at the time of booking on the booking form and is subject to our conditions of booking.

The road to Cherry Tree Cottage is unmade road and can be quite rough in places.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
